Custom-made weld-on David Bird hardtails for Oil In Frame (OIF are '71 and up) Triumph's are made from 1.25" x .125" wall crew tubing with 5/16" thick axle plates. Beautiful TIG welds, MIG welded axle plates. The axle plate slots are 5/8", set up for your stock OIF Triumph rear wheel. You aren't going to find a nicer hard tail anywhere.

The bottom hardtail rails have slugs that insert inside your stock frame rails. This locates it correctly, and the top rails are a tight fit against the stock frame. You get it in position and hit it with a deadblow hammer to get it in the correct position. The sheet metal plates provided finish off the bottom of the seat post tube perfectly. Please note that your stock OIF Triumph tank may need slight modification in the mounts to fit with this weld-on hardtail because of where the hardtail rails weld to the backbone.

The brake stay tab is available welded to the left side for a drum brake, or loose so you can weld it as necessary for a disc brake or custom brake setup.

For more information and frequently asked questions about our custom frames and hardtails, please check out the Frame FAQ.

These are custom made-to-order and currently take approximately 8-12 weeks to complete and ship. You will be charged the shipping at the time of purchase, and when your frame ships we will email over your tracking info.

NOTE TO AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS: If you are in Australia be sure to read the frame FAQ, due to your country's customs laws all frames ship freight and there will be additional charges in addition to the shipping shown during checkout.

I've seen a lot of... Review by John Alexander
I've seen a lot of stock Triumph frames that have been hardtailed and most don't sit well, the oil-in-frame, frames often looking kinda 'awkward and untidy. Once installed (by AHCC in Maldon, Essex, UK) the finished item looked as though it had come out of the factory, everything fitting and flowing as a unit. It looks much cooler than the ugly standard rear end! (Posted on 5/24/2011)

This is the second hardtail I've delt with and is leaps and bounds over the other. Welding is spot on and perfect. Fit with no problems whatsoever. (Posted on 1/31/2012)

Despite an error... Review by Rick Huggins
Despite an error with the shipping calc, there was a mutual agreement. Could not be happier with the quality of the kit from you guys; just a shame shipping is way way over the norm expected. A dealer down here in Oz may be the best option going forwards. Keep up the good work (Posted on 5/14/2013)

Great Item with awesome welds. However their are issues using the stock tank. Something you should address or check before you do your final welding check to ensure the tank fits the lower section by the filler cap. (Posted on 6/3/2010)

The welds were beautiful, the fit was excellent, and it rides straight and true.

Instead of chopping the tank, i just streched out the backbone at the rear of the tank (maybe a 1/2") using a couple 2x4s. Worked perfectly, no tank welding, and just a bit of touch up paint. (Posted on 10/7/2013)
