These Custom-made weld-on David Bird hardtails for Oil In Frame (OIF are '71 and up) Triumph's feature a narrow backbone!

Eliminate that bulky backbone and get the hardtailed frame look of an earlier Triumph, but with the improved performance of the later motors and transmissions. These are made from .120 wall tubing with 5/16" thick axle plates. The axle plate slots are available in your choice of 5/8" set up for your stock OIF Triumph rear wheel or 3/4" for earlier Triumph or aftermarket axles. This hardtail is available with straight frame rails or looped rails. You aren't going to find a nicer hard tail anywhere.

The bottom hardtail rails have slugs that insert inside your stock frame rails. This locates the bottom correctly, and the backbone is radiused for a tight fit against the stock frame. Bolt the motor in and it will act as a jig, tack, and weld! NOTE: This does not include rear motor mount plates, see related products below.

The brake stay tab is available welded to the left side for a drum brake, or loose so you can weld it as necessary for a disc brake or custom brake setup.

For more information and frequently asked questions about our custom frames and hardtails, please check out the Frame FAQ.

These are custom made-to-order and currently take approximately 8-12 weeks to complete and ship. You will be charged the shipping at the time of purchase, and when your frame ships we will email over your tracking info.

NOTE TO AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS: If you are in Australia be sure to read the frame FAQ, due to your country's customs laws all frames ship freight and there will be additional charges in addition to the shipping shown during checkout.

I really love this... Review by Matt
I really love this sub frame and the quality of the welds. The fish mouth cut on the back bone was done perfectly along with over all fitment. Because it's second to none, I have to give 5 stars but there are 2 small issues that drive me crazy. The first is that the only engine mounts offered are form 63-70 which I felt was a must have to align the frame with. A modification has to be made to mount an OIF late rear bake pedal to an early motor mount. The second issue is that the rear brake stay mount was welded too far forward by an inch for the stock strap. Easy fix but could've been avoided.

Over all, I would definitely recommend buying this frame! (Posted on 10/25/2014)

    amazing quality,... Review by Troy
amazing quality, fantastic starting point as ive decided i cant bring my self to cut up my original bike. only problem i had was it took ages to get here as New Zealand is not next door. also the motor mounts as the brake pivots on the wrong side. but over all this is a fantastic piece! Thank you! (Posted on 2/3/2015)
