Hey guys, Todd from Lowbrow Customs here. Today, we're going to show you how easy it is to put this Gasbox chopper sissy bar on this 1999 Harley-Davidson Sportster.
We have three different versions of a similar sissy bar that all have the same bolt pattern, that will fit a '94 to '03 Sportster. If you have an '04, we also have one for that.
Here's the sissy bar. She's got four mounting points. We're just going to simply take these four bolts off of the struts on this bike, and we're going to pop it on. We're going to use the same bolts we just took off, and we're going to be done. It's going to take just a few minutes here.
First thing I want to do, we're going to go here. It's kind of hard to get to the screws so we can take this lens off, if need be. Phillips screwdriver, two screws. There goes one of them. Okay, that will allow easier access to that.
All right, all you're going to need for these fasteners on this model is a T40 Torx bit and a half inch wrench.
We took the lens off. We come around here, and on this model there's actually an insert on the back so you don't even have to use your wrench on there. You're just going to pop this one out, like so.
On the front one, you will need the wrench. You've got to get her up in there any way you can. Okay, simply line up these four holes with those four holes, no need to remove turn signal stocks or any of that nonsense.
There is a metal insert inside the fender. Be careful that doesn't get pushed out of the rubber. I'm putting my fingers on the backside inside. See I got two bolts in, it's already holding itself up. On the rear ones, once again, threaded insert, no nuts. We can go ahead and get our two lock nuts on the front, tighten those four down, put our lenses back on, piece of cake.
That's all there is to it. Little Loctite on your threads, tighten them all down, put your lenses back on, got your new chopper sissy bar on there, and go for a ride.
