David Bird does it again with a hardtail frame unlike any other that fits 1982 - 2003 Harley-Davidson Sportsters. Your stock axle, wheel spacers, caliper, rotor and pulley all fit right back in place on your new rigid frame! This hardtail section uses your stock front frame section which keeps the stock rake and VIN numbers intact so you do not have to re-title a new manufactured frame.

To see how easy it is to install one of these beauties, check out the 1982 - 2003 Sportster hardtail installation instructions. As always, all work should be completed by an experienced fabricator, and all welding should be done by a certified welder!

These are available with your choice of either the looped or straight rear frame rails at the axle (see photos below for examples), and are available in a 4" or 6" stretch. You can also choose 1", 2", 3" or 4" of drop. The photos below of both straight and looped style are 4" stretch, 2" drop hardtails. Construced of 1-1/4", .120" wall tubing, the same diameter as your stock front frame section for a seamless look.

A note about pulleys and belts: This frame is designed to work with your stock pulleys, but unless you have a 0" stretch, the stock belt will not work. Most people choose to do a chain conversion when hardtailing a belt driven Sporty, but if you decide to keep the belt system you will need to find the appropriate length belt for you model/year/pulley combo. We do not have this information and finding the correct belts for a longer stretch may be difficult.
