WHAT SEPARATES CYCLE ELECTRIC FROM OEM AND SHUNT-STYLE ALTERNATIVES

The difference comes down to how the regulator controls voltage:

• Rectifying Regulators vs. Shunt-Style: Most stock and aftermarket regulators control voltage by dumping excess current to ground. This keeps the stator under maximum current load at all times, running it hotter and wearing it faster. Cycle Electric voltage regulators block current to control voltage instead. The result is a lower operating temperature for the stator, less drag on the motor, and a smoother charge delivered to the battery.

• Stator Temperature Tolerance: Cycle Electric stators are built to withstand temperatures up to 600 degrees. The thinner insulation used in the winding sheds heat into the primary oil more efficiently than standard insulation, which extends service life on a motor that runs hot in traffic or at sustained highway speeds.

• Low-Speed Output: Cycle Electric alternator kits are designed for better low-speed output compared to stock. This matters on bikes that spend time in slow traffic or idling, where a weak charging system starts pulling from the battery rather than maintaining it.

• Stators: Individual Harley stator replacements covering 1981 to 2016 across Big Twin, Sportster, Dyna, Softail, and FLH/FLT platforms. The CE-8999 covers 1989 to 1999 Evo Big Twins at 32 amps. The CE-8012 covers 2006 to 2016 FLH/FLT at 50 amps. Check the individual listing for your year and model before ordering.

• Rectifying Regulators: Standalone cycle electric voltage regulators for Big Twin, FXR, Dyna, FLH/FLT, and Softail applications. The CE-320 covers 1989 to 1996 FL and 1989 to 1998 FXD/FXR. The LeBeef CE-540L-CP is the regulator option for 12-volt generator-era Harleys.

• Complete Alternator Kits: Cycle Electric alternator kits include stator, rotor, and rectifying regulator in a single package. The CE-32AR covers Evo Big Twins at 32 amps. The CE-23S-04 covers 2004 to 2006 883 Sportsters. Kits with an R suffix include a Cycle Electric-spec rotor. Kits without the R use the factory Harley rotor.

• Generators: For 1936 to 1984 Harley-Davidsons running generator charging systems, Cycle Electric makes 6-volt and 12-volt generator replacements in standard, low voltage, and LeBeef configurations. The DGV-5000-L-BLK covers 1965 to 1984 in a blacked-out finish. The 6-volt DGV-5006H covers 1936 to 1957.
