Quality Motorcycle Seat Spring With Excellent Shock Absorption
Why should your Bike get Motorcycle Seat Springs?
Motorcycle seat springs have been around since the beginning. Even when you look at the first Harley Davidson® that was sold back in 1903, you will see two motorcycle saddle springs mounted to the back of the solo seat, and a single hairpin style spring on the front of the seat.
Installing a solo seat spring to help dampen the shock that could be transferred from the rear wheel directly to your spine. Rigid style motorcycle frames look great, but riding one over any rough surface is not a wonderful experience.
Motorcycle seat springs are an attempt to solve a problem in a different way. They provide suspension for your body instead of the traditional method of supplying suspension for the motorcycle. Obviously, this was not the best solution, but it did help.
Motorcycle Seat Suspension Evolution
Over the year’s motorcycles have evolved to put a tremendous amount of effort into the suspension for the motorcycle. Even with this new technology, rigid motorcycles still have a huge following. They look vintage and many feel rigid motorcycles are just more attractive than a bike with two rear mounted shocks.
This was the whole premise for the Harley Davidson® Softail® which hides the shocks under the subframe. This allowed the designers to retain that rigid style look while being able to provide suspension for the rider.
Types of Motorcycle Seat Springs
There are three styles of motorcycle seat springs available in the market.
-
Barrel style seat springs are wound into an elongated oval shape. They are mounted into the seat spring retainers, or sometimes directly to the frame. These barrel style motorcycle seat springs come in heavy duty or standard versions, and in chrome or electroplated finishes.
-
Hairpin seat springs (also known as scissor style). These solo seat springs also come in chrome or black electroplated finishes.
