Riser hardware is what actually holds the handlebars to the bike. The riser bolts thread through the triple clamp into the riser base. The riser bushings isolate the mounting point from vibration. The damper bushings in the clamp head absorb the road feedback that would otherwise come straight through to your hands. When any of these wear or fail, the handlebar feel gets loose, vibration increases, and the fasteners start to back out. RISER BOLTS AND HARDWARE

Colony Machine makes riser bolt kits in every common size and finish for Harley-Davidson applications. Thread sizes are 1/2-13 and 1/2-20; lengths run from 2-1/2 to 3-3/4 inches depending on the riser height and clamp configuration. Allen head and hex head versions are available, in chrome and CAD plated finishes. Handlebar clamp mount kits for FX, FL, XL, and FLST models covering 1974 to current production round out the fastener range. Colony also makes chrome cone head riser bolt covers for builders who want to cap the top of the riser bolt head for a cleaner visual finish. Worn riser bushings are the most common cause of handlebar vibration on older Harley-Davidson builds. Two types of bushing are in the collection:

SPRINGER RISER STUDS AND TRIUMPH HARDWARE

• Springer riser studs: Lowbrow Customs springer riser studs are the most reviewed item in the collection at 82 reviews. Available in 1/2-13 to 1/2-20 thread for Harley-Davidson, Mid-USA, DNA, and Paughco springers. Springer riser mounting uses studs threaded into the top clamp rather than through-bolts, and the correct stud thread on both ends is required for the riser to seat properly.

• Triumph and BSA: British Standard handlebar P-clamp hardware and rubber mounting kit (OEM #97-1580) in 7 and 10 reviews across listings, and the bonded bushing set (OEM #97-1527) with 16 reviews. Both are required items for Triumph and BSA handlebar rebuilds where the rubber isolation mounts have hardened or cracked.
