Motorcycle Battery Box

A motorcycle battery box has one job: hold the battery securely, away from heat sources like the engine or exhaust, without looking out of place on the bike. That last part is where most builders run into trouble, since a stock plastic battery box rarely fits the lines of a custom build.

Battery Type and Box Design

Older conventional batteries had to sit upright and were prone to leaking, which limited battery box placement to a fixed spot on the frame. AGM batteries removed the vertical-mounting requirement but stayed heavy, so a low, centered position in the frame still mattered for stability. Lithium batteries changed that further: they're lighter, mount in nearly any position, and don't need to sit inside a fully enclosed shell, opening up more battery box and battery holder styles.

Fitment by Model and Battery Size

This collection covers universal battery boxes sized for common battery types like the YTZ-12S and RTX5L-BS, along with Antigravity-specific boxes in 4, 8, 12, and 16-cell sizes. Model-specific fitments include Harley-Davidson Big Twins from 1936 through the 1980s, Sportster hardtail builds, and vintage 45s and VL models back to 1929. Mounting hardware, bungs, and battery straps are available separately to complete an install.

Fitment and Installation

Battery size, box material, and mounting style all need to match the frame and battery being used, so check the product listing to confirm compatibility before ordering. Most builders also check their battery cables at the same time, since a new box or battery position sometimes calls for a different cable length or routing.
