      Motorcycle Battery Box FAQ

What's the difference between a universal and a fitment-specific battery box?
A universal battery box is sized for a specific battery type, such as a YTZ-12S or a particular Antigravity cell count, and can be mounted in various locations. A fitment-specific battery box is designed for an exact frame and model, such as a 1965-84 Harley FL/FLH, with mounting points made to match.
Can I mount a lithium battery in an open battery holder instead of an enclosed box?
Yes. Lithium batteries don't leak or vent the way conventional batteries do, so they can be mounted in an open battery holder instead of a fully enclosed box. AGM and conventional batteries generally require a more contained setup.
Do I need a special battery box adapter for a hardtail conversion?
Often, yes. A hardtail conversion can change where and how the battery box mounts, so an adapter plate may be needed to fit an existing battery box to the new frame section. Check the product listing for compatibility with your specific hardtail setup.
Why shouldn't I mount my battery near the engine or exhaust?
Heat from the engine or exhaust can shorten battery life and may damage the battery or its case. Battery box locations are typically chosen to keep the battery away from excessive heat sources.
