The tool was of high quality and it worked as intended. Shipping was quick but communication was a bit lacking. When I called to find out where my receipt was customer service was impeccable. Fork leg puller
This tool is a necessity for reassembling your front forks on old Brit bikes that have metal dust covers over the upper part of the for tube. But apparently the manufacturer of the tool never tried to use on such a bike and doesn't provide any instructions. The first thing you need to do is knock the T-handle out of the top (it's just held in with knurling). Then you can assembly the adaptor onto the bottom end of the long puller screw (get it tight) and screw it into the top of the fork (make sure you choose the right adaptor). Then with the T-handle, big nut, and collar removed from the screw, you can pass the screw and fork let up into the dust cover and thru the lower triple clamp. The screw will stick out of the upper triple clamp and then you can put the collar and nut on and screw the nut down against the collar. Keep turning the nut (a lot of turns) and draw the fork leg up into the upper triple clamp. Stick the T-handle back in loosely and use it to keep the screw from turning as you turn the nut. Wiggle the fork leg and push it up to make sure it goes in the taper. When you've got it drawn up tight, tighten the lower triple clamp bolt to keep the fork leg in place when you loosen the nut. Then use the T-handle to unscrew the adaptor out of the fork leg.

If you think you...
If you think you know what the thread pitch is on your project, after 40 or so years, you might be surprised to find out that your front end isn't what you thought it was. Hence, you need, not just one puller, but a couple of different sizes. You could try the "thread the broom handle technique", but all that's going to to is fill your fork leg with wood chips. Shop costs to rebuild a front end are about $80/hour, and now you can do yours - professionally! - and you can be a hero by lending it out to your neighbor that has a BSA! Sufficed to say, there is no downside to owning this tool, except to look for excuses to use it more!

Don't buy the cheapies w/just the size you need! Trust me- you will end up buying this one, anyway; and then what money did you save? Again, ask me how I know!

If you are working on your forks get this tool - it makes re-installing the legs a breeze and your life will be better for it. Also, get this tool from Lowbrow - the price is the best you will find and the service is second to none.
