Belt to chain conversion for 883
Quality product, Good price with fast shipping. Will continue to us lowbrow for all my bike needs
I switched to a chain drive after breaking the belt and having to trailer home, the chain is better for me, extra link on my Keychain is nice, makes me feel better. reverse thread on that front sprocket, 1-7/8" on my 04xl, with a impact wrench did the job, and loctite on the rear sprocket. Im a chain drive convert.
PROS: Looks way...
PROS: Looks way better than the belt, doesnt necessarily run any rougher that I have noticed. Kept stock gearing ratio. Installation was as expected. I am no mechanic, though I like to think I am mechanically inclined. Definitely do your research and know your specs or consult a certified mechanic before installing. All pieces are quality and heavy duty as expected from these guys. I definitely trust the quality and durability of this kit. 1,000+ miles with the chain and I don't even think about converting back or regret investing my money into it. If your looking for something other than style there isn't too much other benefit from it other than appearance. CONS: Chains require more maintenance and may need checked and adjusted more frequently than the belt. Also messier than belts due to the fact most chains require lubrication. Specific to my bike and may be different depending on different factors i.e. year of your bike and modifications. With proper tension I ran into clearance issues with part of my exhaust mount. I have wrapped pipes with slip ons, so basically the stock exhaust bracket I had to grind 1/8" off of a piece the holds the bracket to the frame right behind the back of where your sprocket cover would be. Barely an issue, but still occurred causing noise and wear on bracket. Simple fix is to switch out your exhaust. Also mainly in lower rpms in higher gears the chain will knick the lower passenger peg mount from the stock frame. Not an issue for me since I do not use those mounts, but could cause issues in time. I love it! Quality product as always and given the same situation and everything I've learned and minor clearance issues I'd still install it on my bike or any of my buddies bikes. Only other complaint is there is no option for a black rear sprocket and bolts, but rattle cans or powder coating fixes that.
