Notes:
- Before purchasing or attempting to install shocks that are different than the OEM length, confirm that your wheel travel can be altered without causing clearance issues, such as swingarm/axle to exhaust contact as well as chain/belt guard or tire contact. You may need to modify the exhaust bracket for clearance.
- On 2004 and newer rubber-mounted XL models, changing shock length can affect wheel and suspension travel. Make sure there are no clearance issues with the swingarm, axle, frame, tire, fender, chain or belt (and guard), exhaust/exhaust brackets, or brake linkage. Keep in mind taller shocks may cause the bike to lean farther on the kickstand. To test fitment, support the bike securely and remove both rear shocks. With the frame supported, use a jack to raise the bike and measure center-to-center at the shock mounts for the new length. Then, check for any interference. Important: If you remove both shocks without supporting the frame, the swingarm can pivot upward and the wheel may hit the fender. Use caution.
