Jockey Shifters & Foot Clutches FAQ

Will a jockey shifter fit my motorcycle?
These systems are most commonly designed for Harley-Davidson Big Twin and Sportster models, as their external linkage is easier to adapt. While universal kits exist, fitting them to other makes (like Triumph, BSA, or Japanese cruisers) is a full custom job that requires significant modification to the frame and linkage. Always check the product description for specific model fitment.
Is installing a jockey shifter a DIY job I can do in my garage?
For many Harley-Davidson models, we offer bolt-on kits that a mechanically skilled person can install with standard hand tools. However, universal kits or fitting a system to a non-standard frame will likely require fabrication skills, such as cutting, drilling, and possibly welding. It's a straightforward mechanical job, but not always a simple bolt-on.
How difficult is it to learn to ride with a foot clutch?
There is a definite learning curve. The hardest part is starting on a hill, as it requires you to balance the clutch, brake, and throttle without a free foot to put down. We recommend practicing in an empty lot to build muscle memory. Once you master it, the direct, mechanical connection to your bike is incredibly rewarding.
