I have Gasbox top motor mount with coil / key hole on 1988 Sportster. Overall length of switch looks like might be a tight fit, will it squeeze in?
We have that same set-up on a 2003 sportster here at our shop and it is a tight fit but does have room .

I have a kicker which I still like to use occasionally. Can I still kickstart the bike with this switch? If so what position is the key placed in
Yes that would be possible this switch works like an old car when you turn it on it energizes the system and when turned further it can be used to crank the starter motor it has a spring loaded detent .

WOW-starts like car ig,-no starter button needed? position for lights(or feed to separate lt. switch?)? key must stay in switch while riding? Thanks
Yes that is correct no need for a separate starter button. I believe you could either wire the lights to come on when you energize the switch at the first click or you could run a wire to a toggle switch to turn the lights on or off . The key will stay in when riding .
