On my 2012 Sportster, I had to remove 10mm/1/2 inch of the overflow pipe inside the tank otherwise it would not have ******* down. A tricky job but can be done by using a 1/4 " drill and then finishing off with a 1/2 " drill so that the overflow pipe still protrudes enough so that it can drain. Of course, double check with a long magnet that there are no steel filings that have escaped into the tank. Hope this helps anyone else who may be fitting this cap to a "later" model sportster.
