Some of the steps of designing a new product:
The first initial ideas get sketched out by hand.
Two or three drawlings could happen before it goes to the computer for 3-D CAD work.
Then it goes into a full on 3-D rendering in CAD
The CAD drawlng becomes a blueprint and a crucial step in our product development.
We then use a 3-D printer to get a mock up sample. This is extremely handy when you need to trial fit or get a good feel for the part in real life versus just seeing it on a computer screen.
Our Makerbot 3-D printer hard at work.
