LOOKING FOR A SLICK, CLEAN FORK FOR YOUR CHOPPER THAT ALSO PERFORMS WELL?
Well, look no further...
One of the best methods is to utilize a Harley 39mm Narrow Glide fork (as found on 86-up Sportsters as well as many FXRs and earlier Dyna models) along with some custom parts.
You can piece together a complete 39mm fork pretty easily with aftermarket parts, with some great choices for custom parts such as our 39mm Tapered Fork Lowers and a 21" Spool Wheel. See below for even more custom parts to build a long or skinny Harley fork.
WHY ARE HARLEY 39MM NARROWGLIDE FORKS GOOD FOR CUSTOM MOTORCYCLES?
A 39mm Narrow Glide front end is a prime candidate when building a chopper because of the wide variety of options available in triple trees, tube lengths and lowers (aka sliders). They also look and perform great on Harley Sportsters as well as Big Twins.
You can modify stock components (shave tabs and mounts off of the stock triple trees and lower legs) or you can buy a large assortment of customer parts to build a really custom, wild front fork for that Harley chopper:
- Stock or overlength 39mm fork tubes
- 39mm Narrow Triple Tree Kit
- Fork Brace in Standard Width or Narrow Width (for use with 39mm Narrow Trees)
- Premium Fork Seal Covers
- 39mm Solid Handlebar Riser Bushings (for use with stock trees)

Putting fork legs together for the first time can seem intimidating and overwhelming if you aren't familiar with what parts actually make up a fork leg... But don't fret, it's actually a very straightforward and easy job using basic tools!
In this video Tim Fiorucci walks you through how to build a fork leg from scratch. Using +6" over 39mm fork tubes and our 39mm Tapered Fork Lowers, Tim walks you through how to build a fork leg. The process is the same if you are using OEM Narrow Glide lower legs, instead of the Tapered Lowers.

In this video, watch from start to finish how to build the long, narrow, 39mm Narrow Glide fork you see above on Project Studd, which started as a stock 1993 Harley Softail Evo Big Twin.
This was completed using a set of Lowbrow Customs 39mm Narrow Triple Trees, +6" Over 39mm Fork Tubes, Tapered Fork Lowers, 21" Spool Wheel, Narrow Fork Brace and a Narrow Axle (needed to match the width of the narrow triple trees).
